Hello world!

My son attempted suicide when he was just 21 years of age.  He had gotten married at 19 without my approval.  It was an unhappy marriage which threw him into severe depression.  He had no history of emotional problems.  Eventually his depression led to alcohol abuse and legal problems, etc and finally suicide attempt by a shotgun to the face.  He survived and went through many reconstructive surgeries recovering physically and emotionally.  During the surgeries, we looked for others that were going through similar situations, but never found anyone.   There were plenty of support groups for suicide survivors but not for physical deformities.  As you go through these surgeries, there are things the doctors can’t tell you, but other patient’s can.  If you are looking for someone to talk to, this is the place.

About caseymom

I am the mother of a suicide survivor. My son shot himself in the face when he was 21 years old. He has been through many reconstructive surgeries. I would like to connect with others who have been through a similar situation, especially disfigurement.
